Has Anyone Seen The Pied Piper?
What should have been a great night turned out to be somewhat of an adventure!
Last night was the night where a group of friends were supposed to meet up to bid farewell to one of the member who will be leaving Kuwait on Thursday! One of the guys suggested that we should have a get together at the Ramadan Tent at the Hilton!
I got there and liked the way things were set up but the person who had the idea of meeting up here looked angry! When we asked him what the issue was he told us how the hotel never finalized the reservation even though they guaranteed him a small tent for the group. He got there and his name was not on the list of reservations and the tent was not set up for our group! Luckily he knows how to get things done and took care of everything! Thank you “G”!
Now comes the review on the Ramadan Tent at the Hilton! For my friends who work there, I have to apologise from now and say, “don’t take this personally or don’t take this the wrong way but I am only stating actual events as to what happened last night!!” We were a group of 10 people and the seating arrangement was nice! The hotel staff brought us 2 bottles of water but not enough glasses for everyone! Even after we asked for more glasses non were brought to the table! Everyone ordered drinks and some people who ordered sheesha! The drinks came out fine except for one order! One of the guys ordered Tea with Milk and he specifically asked for hot milk! When his order came in they brought cold milk, so he asked them again to bring hot milk! He put the request in at about 10:30 ish and even after we left, which was past midnight, the staff did not bring the hot milk! Therefore we did not pay for that order since it wasn’t touched! Apparently there was a cover charge but after looking at their small menu I don’t know how someone would order KD7 worth in drinks when each drink is a KD1?!?! The buffet on the other hand was charged seperatly and I think it was KD11 but I didn’t care to ask cause I wasn’t going to eat anything! There were 2 musicians who were playing their instruments and they had a good song selection but I felt that they were not in the mood to entertain! Maybe that’s due to the fact that the crowd wasn’t into the music or that the speakers were not loud enough! Remember I told you that a few people ordered sheesha? Well, the sheesha order wasn’t put in all at one time! For some reason the staff kept on forgetting to place the order and so we had to order sheesha 3 different times! Each time they would bring a few and forget the rest! The worst part of the whole event was the fact that a rat was found on the beach! Yes people a RAT! I managed to take a pic of it before scaring it away with the night light on the camera! Once the rat left 2 stray cats came into the picture and we considered them hotel reinforcement to take care of the rodent issue! I guess the Pied Piper wasn’t hired for the night!
By the end of the night before I left a little cricket decided to pay a visit to our table as well!
All in all, I have to say I liked the seating arrangement, the song selection, the helpful waited that brought what I asked for without forgeting, and the Audi’s they had to show! (Audi had the Q7 and the A4 convertable on show next to the buffet tent!) Other than that the service was bad, the drinks were bad, and the visit by the rat was unexpected!

I miss tents :/
That rat is disgusting. I thought all Kuwaiti rats were…thin and underfed! The tail is so thick! YUCK!

I didn’t hear about all this when the rest of the gang told me you guys went to Hilton! As for “G” being mad - oh I can picture him mad. He gets frustrated and loses his temper like me - when stupid things happen for stupid reasons. So I can so see his reaction to the reservation thing. As for the rat - haven’t seen one that big since the Exxon station by my place in DC! I didn’t know we had ones this big in Kuwait. That’s all we need!

Kleio: Well the reason for you not hearing about it was becasue I told everyone that I was going to blog about it so they decided to keep quiet about it!

wow.. thats pretty bad! A rat, they dont get the drinks in, they dont get the sheesha. how do they expect to get people to come back when its that bad. Thats the problem in Kuwait they act like they are doing you the favor when taking the order, and this is the Hilton! Sometimes they need some training in customer satisfaction!

Marzouq: They definitly need to know how to better serve thier customers!
September 30th, 2006 at 3:42 am
Stallion: LOL! OK that explains it.
Marzouq: “Sometimes they need some training in customer satisfaction!” Dead on. You are exactly right. Most places in Kuwait start off good - they pay a lot for good staff and training and all. But then once they’ve become successful, they go on the cheap and customer satisfaction goes to the dogs (or in this case, the rats!).

that’s what I call adventure! The whole incident seems really funny. Sorry I can’t seem to stop laughing. I know I probably would have been pissed too If I was there.
But the picture of the Rat reminds me of a funny movie. I just can’t remember which one.
Hope they step up their service if they want to stay in business.
