Closet Candy
Earlier today I wrote a post titled, “Weekend in Review” where I talked about what I did this past weekend. In that post I mentioned how I checked out a store! Well, the store’s called CLOSET CANDY and it’s a place that sells clothing for young women! I know I have nothing to do with such a store but I since the person who established the place is a friend of mine I had check it out! The store is located on Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim road which is close to the Salhiya Complex in Kuwait City! The website to this store is under construction and whenever it is ready I will post the address!
I have to admit that I was greatly impressed by the store in all it’s aspects whether it was the design, the set up, the lighting, the merchandise, and so on! The place reminded me of the times when I used to buy items for friends and when I shopped with friends in Washington DC! I miss those days! The selection seemed to be good for a store its size and everything seemed to be well placed and well organized! Oh and I liked the idea of having M&Ms color coded to the theme of the store and has the store name on it!
What I didn’t like was the fact that there wasn’t alot of parking close by but that is easily dealt with since there are 2 parking decks close by. Another thing I didn’t like was that the place was strictly a women’s store! How come we don’t have places like these for men! All we got are stores that sell low grade items for high prices! I would see such a store inside The Salhiya Complex and not on the outskirts!
I wish my friend all the best in her endeavors as a business woman! Way to go girl and good luck!
Here are a few pics:

Great shop! i found parking to be accessible (use sal7iya parking), and the staff, led by the dynamic owner, was more than helpful - i know my girl liked the gift i got her from there

The Man : Welcome to my blog and well done getting a gift from there! Anyone would like a gift from there! As for parking, you are right in using the Salhiya parking lot! I just hit the pavement!
When it comes to the owner, she is a dynamic young lady and when she puts her mind to something she gets it done, mashallah!

I hate shopping in malls. I like outdoor shopping areas like old salmiya. I hope more people open shops on a street line like this one. Looks very nice

Marzouq : The website will be up soon enough! As for the store it is amazing and I too hope it will survive the evil market of Kuwait!
Intlxpatr : Silly, I buy clothes for women! I bought things for my ex and I bought things for friends when I was in the US!
NTT : Welcome to my blog! To me shopping is shopping and I will do it anywhere!
You should go check it out!

places like are only viewed with such admiration because we don’t see much of them in the gulf. they are STILL a new, never the less nice, idea. whenever i’m in london , i like to shop in a more vitage like shops, design wise i mean. the whole ambience has a special aura to it that really puts u in that “private shopping mode”. i really hope you get my point
here in dubai, where i’m from, everyone’s doing that kind of theme. So…….. really ………. want something more original and unique. don’t get me
worng, honestly, way to go.

have to admit, your blog is a breath of fresh air
i mean it ……………
for a change there’s someone who is actually educated, intellegent and MOST OF ALL polite and repectful …………. wow someone really exists like that in the arab world. i know they do, but as u well know that they are the minority and they are not the obvious ones.
these days everyone is trying to impress eveyone and when you try it is sssssssssooooooooo obvious that it’s sucha turn off . it’s nice to know that there is someone who is not a wanna be on all levels

Vixen : Will you be checking it out soon?
Amal : Welcome to my blog! As for your first comment, I know what you mean and I have to agree with you a bit but due to the fact that I love shopping I tend to enjoy the products more than anything else!
As for your second comment, thank you very much for the kind words and the amazing compliments! I wasn’t expecting anything like that and I have to say that this comment made my day! Thank you!

Closet candy is what we need here in kuwait…the selection of clothes, designers, accessories…truly amazing. The boutique itself is just breathtaking. Closet Candy will certainly uplift the shopping experience in Kuwait to a prestigous level with many of its International designers. Really I am very proud of her and I know she worked so hard for this and el7amdella she made it happen
Good luck girl!

I agree with Amal regarding shopping at vintage (or boutiques as I call them)… I encourage smaller shops as opposed to franchises (well except for starbucks but i believe they use some addictive additive in their coffee)
I’ll be sure to check this place out when I’m back home, and hell they give out M&M’s … free candy? You can’t go wrong there ;p Thanks for letting us know about the place ..
March 17th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
Amal : No offense or anything but I do not know who you are talking about? I tend to listen to old Arabic music and not much if any of the new stuff! Maybe you can enlighten me!
Red Blooded Woman : Welcome to my blog! I would really like to know what you think of the store when you come back! I admit I like it despite not being able to get anything from there!
As for informing people about such things, I like doing that to help small businesses such as this, especially if I know the owner!

As for a guys only shop, that is clearly lacked it this part of the world, i think u should start one …… since u are quite knowledgeable with mens trends and where to get them. i think the market is not yet penetrated in that aspect it will be a different way of shopping as appose to just going to an Armani, or Boss or even a Louis Vuittong stores
March 18th, 2007 at 7:29 am
Amal : I thought you were saying Aseel (as in a girl’s name) and didn’t think you were saying A9eel! OOPS
As for men’s fashion, well I could start a store but due to many factors such as time, money, and bureaucracy I won’t be able to do it!
