Calling All Arabs Out There!

What’s up? I was hoping that there might be people out there who wouldn’t mind helping me out! I have an English word that I want to write in Arabic!

The English word : Margaritaville

I have 4 ways of writing it and they are :

مارغاريتافيل

مارجاريتافيل

The other 2 variations of the word are identical to those listed about except the ف has 3 dots on top and not just 1

What do you think? How would you spell it?

  • i wouldn’t even translate it. i’d just say عالم المارغاريتاor something cos these letter 2 letter translations piss me off

  • EniGma : Thanks for your input but the thing is I can’t use your translation! Why? What you wrote down is 2 words that translate into World of The Margarita or Margarita World! I am not looking for that! I just want the literal translation of Margaritaville!

  • Egyptians would use the ج, Syrian, the غ
or is it the other way round? :/ madri

I’d go with your first spelling
    مارغاريتافيل

and please don’t do the three dots thing.. It’s not a proper Arabic letter.

    Ba3ad.. shlonek?

  • Shurouq : Halla walla! Nice of you to grace my blog! I’m doing fine thanks! You? As for the translation, I didn’t really want to use the 3 dots but it was mentioned by coworkers! Thanks for your input!

  • Bro..
If you want a technical explanation, here it goes!

The ‘g’ in Margaritaville is pronounced like in ‘good’ or ‘great’ (emphasis on the g). So usually that’s translated in official Arabic to ج .

And I agree with Shurouq, not proper arabic for the 3 dots. :P

    Oh and hi! ;)

  • Я : Thanks for the reasoning! I’ll keep that in mind! :P

  • well if u had to choose one of these 2 then مارغاريتافيل looks better cuz then ppl will read it marjaritaville ;p

  • i did a search in google to check which is more common to say, sawait test 3ala margret tatcher i found that مارغريت
is used more than the one with ج in difference of 13,000 name
so i think the best translation is:
    مارغريتافيل
i don’t think that you should use the (ا) after il’3ain you don’t clearly say it..

  • EniGma : Gotcha!

Deema : Thanks for the research and the info! I’ll take your suggestion into consideration!

  • I read this post and all I hear in my head is “why? why would you need to translate Maragitaville? ” :P

Printing out invitations? Hope mine is not lost bel mail *giggles*

  • apparently, your spelling “dillema” concerns 2 letters
    V & G

I second what Shurouq said regarding the use of a three dotted ف

    as for the “G”
there is a third infrequent way to arabicize it
    by using the letter ك
to simulate the persian letter گ - Gaf (with a swash on top)
    so the result will be
    مارگاريتافيل

    just like
    كراج
    &
    گراج

  • Cuteberry : You’ll find out soon enough!

iDip : WoW! I never thought of that! Good point!

  • actually the 3 dotted ف is also persian

  • EniGma : Don’t worry about that anymore! Not going to use it! ;)

  • iDip is absolutely right, i was thinking of telling you that but i don’t know how to explain it neither how to find this kind of kaf illy fog’ha sha56a.

bas ahagaak bassik mn halslfa mo?

  • Deema : We’ll see what happens!
