Trip Planning!

Despite the fact the year is almost over I have 2 trips in which I will be leaving Kuwait and enjoying some time abroad! The first trip will be in November to go to Bahrain! I will be driving to Bahrain to attend this year’s Gulf Run! I am not planning this trip much cause most of the things are taken care of and I am pretty familiar with Bahrain now!

The major trip that I am currently planning is a trip to India for a little over a week in the month of December! I have been invited to an Indian Wedding! Should be fun! A friend of mine from college is having his wedding ceremonies done in New Delhi and he has invited my brother and I to attend! The plan so far is to leave Kuwait on Thursday afternoon/night to get to Jaipur on Friday and meet up with the groom and his other guests. We will spend Friday and Saturday in Jaipur before heading back to New Delhi and enjoy the festivities!

For anyone out there who has been to Jaipur and New Delhi, who can recommend good hotels to enjoy please leave a comment! A list of Dos and Don’ts would help as well! Thanks!

Don’t carry a lot of cash

And above all that if you are with locals from there..I guess shouldn’t be and issue..but Be careful…I always feel i am a stranger when I traveled to India and Pakistan.

    Good Luck :)

  • Since you are going to be passing through Jaipur, I could not resist suggesting you stop by neighboring Udaipur and pamper yourself at the foll. places, or should that read palaces (I forget which it is):
    Devigarh resorts (www.deviresorts.com)
    Udaivilas (www.oberoiudaivilas.com)
    Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur (www.tajhotels.com)
Trust me, you will want to keep coming back for more.
On street food and water I couldn’t agree more with Amu - if it’s your first time in India you are assured to get Agra belly, eating in one of ‘em street side cafes and Punjabi dhabas.
And if time and mind permits, you are more than welcome to come join us at the Osho International Meditation Resort (www.osho.com) further down south by westward.
    Su Swagatam!

  • If it’s only Jaipur you are looking at, the Rajvilas Oberoi in Jaipur is a decent place to bunk for the night(www.oberoirajvilas.com).

Ideally, to make the most of your safar a la Hind you want to extend it by a full week, at least. That will give you enough time to go game hunting at Ranthambore’s Aman-i-Khas luxury jungle retreat before heading off to Mount Abu for Dilwara paintings and moving off south central to get up-close-and- personal with the Ajanta and Ellora caves : by far, the most visited destination in India second only to the Taj at Agra, by the full moon’s night. And then if you still have any time left you may want to keep Jaisalmer, Ladakh and Leh on your travel horizon but there’s only so much you can do on your maiden voyage to India.

  • Little Rascal : Welcome to my blog! Thanks for the tips regarding recommendations and all! I was thinking of staying at the Trident Hilton in Jaipur! The couple who’s getting married and the guests will be in Agra the day we intend to arrive in Jaipur so that when next day when they arrive in Jaipur we will meet them there! Most of the time will be spent with them and with what they have planned! The rest of the time (16-21) we will be in New Delhi! I would like to take a few days and visit some people in Goa but I don’t think that will happen!

Delhi Belly in Chelsea : Welcome to my blog! I won’t be able to do all the amazing things you commented with due to the fact that the schedule and travel time are restricted. Hopefully one day I will be doing the things you mentioned!

  • December’s a swell time to be in Delhi when the weather’s just a little nippy and visibility’s just a little foggy. Do make it a point to partake of the cuisine of the North Western province by dining out at the Bukhara, ITC Maurya Sheraton, Delhi. They say it is among the 50 best restaurants in the world today. My friends and I, whenever we happen by the Bukhara we insist on being sat down at Bill and Hillary Clinton’s table but you need to tell them of your seating preference, in advance.
You could then shake a leg or two :) at Ghungroo, New Delhi’s hottest disco also at the Maurya.
And finally, no trip to Delhi is complete without taking in the India Gate, the Lotus temple, Haus Khaz Arts & Crafts Village and oh, yes most certainly the West End Greens area of Gurgaon for some amazing architecture and home design.
For internal travel to Goa fly with Kingfisher Airlines - the Indian equivalent of an Emirates - Qatar Airways combo.

  • Reading Between the Lines : Welcome to my blog! Thanks for the info! That was greatly appreciated! I think I have chosen the hotel I would like to stay at!
