Anti-Segregation Rally

Last night I attended the Anti-Segregation Rally that was held at the head quarters of the Ù‹Women Cultural Social Society located in Khaldiya and I have to admit that when I got there at 5:45 I didn’t think that there were a lot of people there for a meeting that was going to start at 6! When I entered the room in which the meeting was being held, I was surprised to see that there weren’t many seats available and the room was full! The meeting started off well and just kept on getting better till the end! I liked everything that went on during the meeting except what occurred towards the end which was that the people were leaving the room and being some-what loud while there was a speaker talking. I found that quite ill-mannered. The people could have left in a quiet orderly manner and let the speaker say what she wanted to say. Anyways I’m not going to go into detail about what went on but I will post pictures but I will put up the video clips later on!

  • nQ : Welcome to my blog! As for the videos, I’m still working on them and they will be on YouTube inshallah! I don’t think I got Nora Al-Ghanim’s Speech though! I was kinda running around taking pics and stuff! Sorry!

  • Okay.. pictures, great.. I dont mean to be rude but i wanna know more about what happened… did they come up with a plan? what are they gonna do about all this? i would’ve loved to come but i had other plans.. I’m just really worried about this segregation stuff.. and right now things look pretty bad for us

  • Sheep : Welcome to my blog but couldn’t the plans be postponed to another time? We are all worried about this issue cause it will only make our beloved country deteriorate and turn into, God forbid, the land of religious ignorance! This meeting was only the first one and no plan was set! The plan will not be discussed till the other MPs come back to Kuwait from their missions abroad! Make sure you attend the next meet up which will be held next week on Tuesday the 19th in Rawdha at the Al-Ta7aluf Al-Watani Al-Dimoqrati’s HQ! :P

  • hello ,I was there and was thrilled to attend it with my yong son who persuaded me the whole week to go it was very inspiring every body talked in there own or aspect of concern as it efect every thing in our life ,and its only the bigining for those people so we have to talk to every body to attend these meetings as it realy motivated me,the pictures were taken earlier the attendance doubled by the end of the evening.CU on the 19th.

  • MarAah : Welcome to my blog! I’m glad your son was able to change your mind! As for the pic of the crowd, they were taken earlier like you said! Sometime between 6:15 and 6:45!

  • was there, pretty impressive, the contest that was shown was understanding and very logical, think they have a chance at this

  • See you guys next Tuesday!!! We’re finally moving! Finally action!.. and it won’t stop at segregation! We’re taking Kuwait back from those who kidnapped it!

  • Aziz : Welcome to my blog and I too think we have a chance as well!

Nasser : Welcome to my blog and this is only the first step to rescuing our beloved country from those who don’t want to do anything but fill their pockets and keep Kuwait in the dark ages!

  • Mashallah A lot of ppl showed up! Lets Hope It Makes a Difference

  • Rashisha : Welcome to my blog and I too hope that this effort as well as the many that will follow it would make a difference!

  • Seeing this type of rally and the unity that it has promoted makes me very happy. I don’t believe in any form of segregation. With all the social/marital problems that Kuwait is currently facing, gender segregation will only make it worse: If segregated, how can any of us understand each other? Is it “immoral” to sit next to someone of another gender?

I further what Nasser said above, it is time that people stepped up and “take Kuwait back from those who kidnapped it!” Fundamentalist/archaic thinking is not what Kuwait is about.

  • Desert Girl : Welcome to my blog and I totally agree with you! I too am against all forms of segregation and I hope to see the day where Kuwait becomes a “free” country!

  • it was great!!

double the amount of ppl were outside as well!

inshala the next one ele bil ta7alof itkon even bigger 3ashan they get the msg !

  • Um-Mit3ib : Welcome to my blog and I hope to see a bigger crowd at the next meet up even thought the place is much smaller! As for the videos, I posted the play list earlier today! You should be able to check all the videos from that one embedded player!

  • Funny it seems the US is on the same path, read the story. Sparks Fly Over Single Gender Education in Georgia. http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=4306768&page=1

  • Hellraiser : Isn’t that a public school in Georgia? If so then it’s ok! Public schools in Kuwait are segregated anyways! The private sector schools are the ones we are worried about!
