It’s Official!

I am officially a certified communications device user!
What does that mean? Well that means I took the course on how to properly use a VHF/UHF communication device and took the required test. I passed that test and my paperwork went to the Ministry of Communication who then transfered them to the Ministry of Interior to get and OK for me to become a certified user. I actually got my certification and now I have a device installed in my car and using it without fear of being pulled over. Thanks for the guys at the local Amature Radio Society for putting together the course and doing the paperwork for me.

Now I am using the ICOM -V8000 in my car and loving it! My next purchase is a hand held unit called the Yaesu VX-7R but not in silver. I actually want the black version Yaesu VX-7RB.

Q8GEEK : Welcome to my blog! The process was as follows :
1) Go to the Amature Radio Society and sign up for the course! (The HF course is a month long but the VHF/UHF is a meer week and a half)! Pay KD10 admission fee.
2) Attend the classes and pass the exam!
3) The Society will send your paperwork to the Ministry and all you have to do is check with the Ministry every now and then to see if your paperwork has been finished!
4) When your paperwork is done, go to the Ministry of Communication and pay them KD5 to be a licensed user and if you have a device take the user manual with you and pay another 5KD for the license.
My device was free since it was a gift and so I only spent KD20!
Marzouq : Thanks! E7na nabi!
