My Trip Part 1

Hi all! Some of you might know that I am on vacation! Where? Gold ol` US of A! I have been here since the 8th of October and I think it’s time to post something about what I have done! Well, let me start off talking about my flight!

I decided to fly United on their direct route to Washington DC! The flight was 13 hours long and I slept for a bit and watched a few movies! I arrived in DC and it was a breeze getting out of the airport. I was the first in line to go through passport control and when I was done my bags were waiting for me so I just picked them up and left the airport to pick up my car at Enterprise rent a car. I drove up to my friends place and woke him up! Took him to breakfast where we sat down and talked for a bit before we went to get a cell phone that I could use for the month and a half I’ll be in the US! After that I started my car and drove to CT! The drive was about 6 hours of great views and changing scenery.

First day at CT I didn’t do anything except relax and enjoy time with my old host family from my days at boarding school! The day after I drove around the town I lived in and was quite happy that nothing in town changed. The school I went to though grew a lot adding 4 new dorms, 1 new multi-purpose field, the track was repaved, and 2 new buildings while there were two more buildings being constructed. The day after that I went to the mall in Holyoke MA, where I bought clothes then went to the mall in Enfield CT, where I picked up a few more items. That afternoon I attending the first evening of the high school reuinion where I met up with old teachers and a few friends. Good times and old memories come back!

The reunion was for 3 days, Friday through Sunday. Friday was pretty much just a casual day where people registered, attended the inauguration of one of the new dorms that was named after a great teacher that taught me American History. After that we had dinner at the head master’s house, who back in the day was the head of admissions. Dinner went on for hours since there was a long reception before it and people were just happy to socialize and mingle. Once dinner was over people stayed in the backyard and kept talking to one another. BTW the weather was AMAZING! Saturday, I decided not to go to any of the events in the morning and opted to go off-roading with my host brother! We took his Jeep and went to the woods across the street from his house and hit some rough areas. Ed was surprised cause most of the places he used to off-road at became off-limits to motor vehicles and the trails were closed. Turns out the the stat of CT turned that area into an experimental bird sanctuary. We had fun though. We went home and showered before we went back to the school where we graduated from and wondered around campus looking at all the current kids playing their mandatory sport events. We ended up watching the Varsity game which we were apparently not supposed to win since the opposing team was too strong. We were quite happy leaving the game after our team won 3-0! GO TIGERS! Before the gala dinner, I went to visit a friend who was preparing to take his race car that runs on bio-diesel in Mexico. He has been working on that car for sometime and he’s now living a dream. Good luck KM! After that I got dressed up in a suit and tie and went off to the gala dinner where they gave speeches as well as gave away prizes for specific people and specific class years. Most people thought I would get the prize for the longest distance traveled but no one knew that one of the girls who graduated moved to the UAE to work since her husband moved there! Oh well!

Sunday was nothing more than brunch with the alumni and goodbyes. I did have a business meeting before brunch though with one of the Alumni who has 2 kids currently attending the same school! I also said goodbye to the 2 friends who were going to travel down to Mexico with their Bio-diesel race car. (In case you want to keep up with what they are doing please visit their BLOG!) Anyways, I will leave you pics of the school, games, and cars.
